Hi all. Cat keeps coming to our garden late night begging to come in. The local shop next door said it's there all day and they thought it was mine. So led it into my garden on their way home. Its not my cat. They took it to the vet who said no micro chip but seems healthy. Very heavy. Looks well fed. Posted on Facebook. Seems to be doing the rounds around the town. Probably why it looks well fed! Anyway he howls at my door. I said I will out something for her to sleep in at night and maybe some food out. I can't let her in. I have a cat and he's not neutered yet. I'm not sure if she's spayed. She's very friendly and basically keeps trying to move in

The shop next door called cats protection after a few days but they told them to wait 2 weeks and they will only help I she's around then.

What would be a hoof make shift den for her I'm the garden please?

Ooo OK. I might be able to do that. Might have to sacrifice my washing basket as its basically one of those but I don't use the lid. Not sure I have any straw. Might have to be a blanket in a dry area

ha ha. Did you ever found out what the sign said?
Ps you’re a lovely cat mum

No! I asked and they didn't reply. I will go look tomorrow. Can't leave the kids home alone! And don't fancy peering into a dark and closed shop! 🤣

You can buy outdoor cat shelters.

Fill with hay, not straw (you'd think being hollow straw is a good insulator but it crushes easily & is then next to useless) and position with the entrance away from the wind.

If the weather isn't going to be too bad (no wind, little to no rain), then you can use a cheap plastic bin with the face turned towards a wall or fence, for a few days. We did this for up to a week with a stray when trying to establish where it came from (and before you could buy outdoor shelters).

Any updates @Poorlycatadvicewanted ?

Poorlycatadvicewanted · 12/02/2024 21:46

Yes! She got picked up by a vet and taken to a charity in the end as no one was claiming him. The shop put flyers up and I and a few others asked around on social media. She kept going around begging at people's houses very loudly! In the end it was decided it would be safer for her.
My own cat is tiny and quite poorly so I couldn't take him in. He was like 3 times the size of mine and very bolshy. She was beautiful though. Hopefully she will find a lovely home.
