What do you feed your older cat?

Our cat is 13. We’ve always fed her Iams, she’s now on the senior.
She’s getting increasingly cadgy for our food.
Should we change what we feed her for her everyday food?

My 11/12 year old was on Iams. I tried the Iams senior and she was so offended she got colitis. Swapped her straight back on the the standard indoor cat one. She'd now on Amazon lifelong and she's a different cat.

Our 16 year olds are very happy on Hills. They used to be on Iams, which was fine for years, but we noticed a real improvement in their coats when we switched, and one of them had been getting an upset stomach. One has senior 11+, one has sensitive stomach and skin and one has kidney care.

My 12 year old cat eats Purina chicken flavour - we tried her on fancier things in her youth and she turned her nose up at them - it’s Purina she likes! We switched her into senior once but she lost a lot of weight - she is VERY active so put her back on the regular. I’ve spoken to the vet about her diet several times and they’ve said she’s well and happy so don’t mess with it.

We have a 19 year old cat that had been losing weight - our vet recommended trying Royal Canine Ageing 12+ - she loves both their dried food and the pouches - the food seems to stimulate her appetite and she is a much more healthy weight now - would highly recommend - Pets at Home often have offers.

We also offer Dreamies as often as she wants them!

We added sardines or scrambled eggs as a snack several times a week and ours perked up. She’s 16 and every year is a bonus.

It sounds like she needs more protein then. There’s a possibility that she’s stopped catching mice now, so I suppose that needs replacing.
