Holiday - indoor or outdoor?

We have kittens who are nearly 6 months old and due to be spayed in a few weeks. We are going away for a week in June when they will be 10 months old. A family member will come twice a day to feed and spend time with the kittens, but I am unsure how to proceed with access to outside. They have not been outside yet - after the neutering has happened should we allow access outside? Or should we wait til after our holiday? I am worried about them going out while we are away and getting lost/hurt and my relative won’t necessarily be able to help if only briefly visiting twice a day. Although, if we keep them in for that week after having had outside access will that stress them more? Any advice appreciated. Thank you.

I personally would leave them in until after you come back from your holiday , easier all round , less worry for all people concerned and the kittens will not know they are missing out , June will come around very quickly , once you have had your holiday you can then start to introduce the wider world to them

Yes that’s my gut feeling - thank you!

Wait until after holiday. At 10 months they are still kittens and could easily get lost or run over. Wait to introduce the outdoors when you can do it in a supervised way. They won’t miss what they don’t have for now.

Totally agree. Thanks
