I’ve had cats throughout my life and I have no worries about having a settled cat. However I can’t remember how the first couple weeks usually work for best.

For example, is kitten best to be confined to one room initially? For how long? I have dogs which I will want to keep separate overnight and when I’m out to begin with.

Do kittens usually manage hooded litter trays ok? I’ve usually had open ones but with dogs this may not be a good idea.

Kitten will be 10wks and a moggy.

No advice without a picture! It's litter tray law.🤣

Confining to one room depends on the kitten. Some might prefer it. Some want to explore. But if you have dogs. Probably wise to try and keep
Them separate. Maybe try some sent swapping.

Promise to post photos when she's home :).

My old dog is used to cats but might be a bit irritable now she's older with kitten pounces. The younger dog is less familiar so he will likely need the more careful introduction, mainly because he's excitable. The kitten has grown up around dogs.

I've just got my little lady on Friday. She is a confident little thing so hard to keep her contained. My dog is a velcro dog so was hard to keep them apart. She wants to play the kitten keeps telling her to back off but still falls asleep near her etc. Had she been more shy I would have kept them apart more but they are warming up. My adult cat is less bothered by being in my room so they are easy to keep apart! Just follow the kittens lead is my advice x

So just got her home this afternoon. She's a little shy but coming out to explore. Nows she's sleeping snuggled on my rocking chair.

The dog hasn't met her yet but he knows something is going on! I've given him to towel from the carrier to smell.

we got a kitten in August.
(dd's)

First week - litter tray and shut in with dd in her bedroom overnight.
During the day we borrowed a dog crate.
kitten in dog crate when dog in the room. Until eventually kitten got out of the dog crate and climbed on the dog!
babygate so that kitten could explore the kitchen, utility and food and litter tray without dog.

He never liked the lidded tray.
But the dog can't get into our utility room.

he stopped using the litter tray in dds room after about 2 weeks, so we removed it.

What a little sweetie! Looks sleepy in the second pic! Hope you have lots of fun together 😸

She's done really well. A little hand shy but has been confident enough to explore and play. Apparently shoe boxes make the best beds!
