How much to feed a 6 month kitten??

Got a kitten a few weeks ago from rspca. She is 6 months old this week. Does anyone else have a 6 month kitten? How much do you feed it? Looking at back of cat food box and it says 4-4.5 pouches with one pouch deducted per bowl of dry food. Not sure which ratio to go with... more dry food or more wet? RSPCA said dry food is the main food.

This is really a question for your vet. And it will depend on what type of food you’re feeding her. She will be constantly hungry is all I can say! 😻

It’s really difficult to give an accurate estimate without pictures of the cat first 😍

It absolutely depends on the cat and the cat food. Some are all cheap filler so you have to feed more of it.

Bear in mind around dinner times cat will behave as if they have never been fed ever in their entire lives - before telling you they don't like it.

I feed pouches and dry biscuits. Don't want to over feed but was wondering if three to three and half pouches a day was ok with biscuits

We fed ours as much as he wanted at that age. It averaged around two pouches a day plus dry.

Mine are adults so their needs are different, but they have half a pouch of wet food twice a day and unrestricted access to dry food. 3-4 pouches as well as dry food sounds like a lot.

Often the manufacturers do suggest way too much food.

A bit like humans, some cats can self regulate and just eat the right amount and some will eat anything in sight without pausing for breath and then yell for more.

For some reason I have always had one of each sort of cat which has meant a lot of policing meal times.

Kittens need a lot more food than adults.

Unless the cat is overweight I would feed ad lib biscuits and then wet food as meals. If there is dry available all the time it doesn’t really matter how many pouches you feed. The cat will change its dry food intake accordingly.

I’ve recently got a pair of 11 week old kittens. Dry food is free flowing 24/7, one likes a very small amount of wet kitten food morning and evening, the other looks like she’d rather die than eat it so just sticks with dry.
