Eye boogers

MrCat gets copious eye boogers. Usually at the nose end of his eyes, occasionally at the ear end. As he's a white cat, they show up strongly. Vet is not concerned.

MrCat lets us pick the crusts off (no, it's not particularly satisfying, not even to this sporner) but he's currently getting a lot and is less amenable to repeated pickings.

I've seen that you can get eye wipes suitable for cats. Can anyone recommend what they use?

Eye-boogery cat tax attached. I don't have any pics of him with his mega-boogers, so you can have two pics of him cos he's a gorgeous bastard (not prejudiced at all 😁).

I don't know about wipes but I boil water in the kettle, put in a clean cup with a little salt and wait to cool until its warm, then use a soft cotton pad. The warmth helps loosen them

Same but I use chamomile teabags
Mostly because they need using up as I'm not drinking that rubbish GrinBlush

🙈😂
(Nothing more useful to add, sorry. DD1 picks them off much to Dcat2's annoyance...)

Our vets said to use saline and cotton pads rather than wipes. Also suggested carbomer eye gel. Our DCat is elderly and his eyelashes rub is eyeballs.

Chamomile teabags 😄 and I thought my cat was pampered!

They're organic too and taste like feet
I needed a way of using them up GrinBlush

I use cotton wool pads and cooled boiled water.

My two will be getting ideas! Cheddar's eyes occasionally need cleaning but dispose having the most enormous eyes, I've never had to clean Penelope's!

😆

My cat would rightly freak out if I went near his eyes with a wet teabag! Organic Chamomile or not!

Oh no not with the teabag! You steep the teabag in boiling water and use a cotton pad when it's cool Grin

Still seriously spoiled lol

I just use a tissue

Dilbertian · 13/01/2024 14:54

Oh my! What a beauty - he definitely deserves the tea bag!

Our big boy gets eye boogers - I just wipe them off with cat-friendly wipes. He doesn't love it but he's learnt to tolerate it Grin

TroysMammy · 13/01/2024 20:57

My cat doesn't mind at all. I usually pick them off in the morning, whilst he's sitting on the laundry box watching me on the toilet!

FormerlyPathologicallyHappy · 14/01/2024 07:44

You can just leave them, the cat will wash them off during the day.
