Hello l loved your photo of your cat..my cat is 7 months.. when l got him he was a tiny kitten and we thought he was a Queen .
He's now grown and he's huge.. big huge furry take. Big furry ears. Huge paws..He acts more like a dog.He has the shaggy frontal ruff . He follows me from room to room.
I'm sure he is part main coon.

This is an article on how to tell a Maine Coon and it does mention the unique sounds they make. I've had moggies for 40 odd years and never had the same sound, our MC has paperwork on both sides and vet confirmed. But there must be lots out there part Maine Coon but not registered but there are also lots of adverts for part MC who don't look anything like. Ours is definitely not intelligent though, moggie was far more intelligent. We had to move his food bowl today and he sat there trying to eat from an invisible one then moved it back (all 30cms) and he went where we moved it from then he worked it out. And ball he can only start in 1 direction. DD says he's all looks and no brain.

How To Identify A Maine Coon Cat - Maine Coon Expert

The Maine Coon is one the most well known of all the cat breeds in the world. So famous in fact, that Mrs Norris from Harry Potter is a Maine Coon. With worldwide fame at the Maine Coons fingertips you think they’d be instantly recognizeable. The real...

Mine is part forest cat we think. He's very soft, with fluffy toe beans and ears. He's 16 1/2 now, and has stopped growing his big winter ruff 😔

His markings are similar yours too!

@MrsFloof my Maine Coon is the least intelligent cat I've ever met. He's very affectionate which makes up for it.

MrsFloof · 11/01/2024 20:29

That does look similar BovrilonToast I would also go with part Norwegian Forest cat but vet is best person to ask and am just guessing myself.

cristokitty Ours is also the least intelligent cat I have ever known but his stupidity is cute and he is constantly cheerful and cuddly. Though he has spent a lot of today trying to groom my hair and purring and keeps putting his two big fluffy paws on my face. Think its as I had wild rose bath foam and he's addicted to that. 16 year old son also takes it a lot. 😂

MyFurBabies · 11/01/2024 20:59

We have two part MCs. Yours could be possibly. One of ours looks v Maine Coon (build, ears, super long fluffy tail, facial features - very like floof's) the other doesn't at all. They are also both quite small which isn't usual but that's because their Mum was a v small moggy.

Neither trill but they both coo like pigeons! And the one that looks most MC loves a silent meow which I'm led to believe is just too high pitched for us to hear! He also has the most lovely MC temperament. His sister not so much. I think his sister got more of the moggy genes!

This is Floof at 7 months.

@catelynjane
I don't care what he is.. but l didn't want a big cat.. nor a main coon.. l didn't know this when l rescued him.. in fact it wasn't until his first vet visit l found out he was a Tom.. so don't judge.
He's loved no matter what.

@MrsMrsFloof
Yes he does that noise..
He gets my post and brings it to me.
I've had cats and dogs all my life ( I'm 65) my last cat died two years ago age 17 . My last dog died last March age 16.. both from old age.
Always domestic cats.. never ever had one this big and fluffy.
His tail ( right spelling lol) is ringed..
My daughters have two cats each and they're not nearly as big.. and much older.
My cat hasn't even reached adult hood yet.
Honestly he acts more like my Jack Russell did than any cat I've ever had.
My Grandson goes to the Cat Cafe in Leeds every month.. he took a photo of mine and the owners do think he's got some Main coon in him.
I rang the rescue centre this aft and they are kindly going to ask the other owner who took one from the same litter what theirs look like.
He's due for his injections soon.. and the vet hasn't seen him scince he was castrated and not so big so will see what he thinks.
Oh and l gave him a female name ( sort of) and never changed it..
Here is a clue lol.🌷

The carrying things in the mouth is MC like. Floof takes the Christmas decs off the tree and carries those round in his mouth and balls can sometimes bring back in his mouth. His tail is very like Floofs.

JustwantacupfT · 11/01/2024 21:33

I have a part main coon too. Here is my handsome boy.

Here’s my Siberian FC. Big floofy feet, bib and tail. Ears less fluffy on the tops but tons on the fronts.

Moier · 11/01/2024 21:39

@MrMrsFloof
Today he jumped onto the kitchen counter .. opened a tub of large mushrooms..took one out and brought it to me upstairs lol.
He hasn't been out yet. He has a sifting litter tray where the wood pellets sift through to the bottom compartment when he's peed and scattered so doesn't smell.. l just scoop out the poo.
Come spring I'm going to decide then. I have a huge garden with a huge apple tree I'm sure he would love to climb.. but l will be sitting in the garden while he plays .
Too many cats going missing around here.

I showed DH your boy and said this is not our DCat. He didn't believe it wasn't ours!

Moier · 11/01/2024 22:30

@BovrilonToast

Yes l agree.
My daughters once fetched a stray cat in when they were little.. she was the spitting image of the cat we already had.. l didn't realise until our own cat came wondering back it was a completely different cat.. she kept coming back time after time.. we ended up keeping her. She blessed us with 4 kittens four weeks later.. we kept two and fave two away.

This is my last cat Bonneville. She looks big and fluffy but definitely a moggy.. she was very thin under all that fur.

Lovely pictures. Floof is actually quite small under the fluff. He's about 2/3rds fluff. They are supposed to like water as well but Floof doesn't.

Canthave2manycats · 12/01/2024 17:38

He does have a Maine Coon look about him!

We adopted this guy a week ago - he originally came from a breeder (I adopted him from rescue) and is half Maine Coon and half ragdoll. He's a sweetheart!!

We also have had this floofster for nearly 2 years and we are pretty sure she has some Maine Coon too!

Mine are definately half main coon with a ginger main coon mum and black British short hair dad. They're huge and adorable - 4.5kg and 4.9kg at 8mths
