I'm so sorry for those of you who've lost your furbabies. I've been there, too many times. It's devastating and not everyone understands either!
It will be 2 years this month since we lost our last boy. The advice I am going to give you will seem unreasonable for now - but the best thing you can do is to open your heart to another kitty...
I missed my boy so so much. The house was just empty without him. I just cried. My DC and my DN showed me a lovely cat on the Cat's Protection site locally. I just said I couldn't do it yet.
After a couple of weeks of being lost and lonely, I took another look at the cat, and thought, I could love you, I really could! Turned out she had had potential owners interested but nobody suitable until I enquired. In the meantime, I fell totally in love with another girl who had been neglected on a local rescue page... the rest is history, dear reader, as they say!!
And now, nearly two years later, I have been accepted to adopt a gorgeous boy!! I have no idea how this is going to work because these two I have already aren't friends!! I am hoping this boy will help defuse the tension.
I know three cats is probably insane (and I have had more in the past) and I will probably die of old age, and they will eat me.... but I just love cats, always have!
Give yourself a little time and then take the plunge again. No, another cat will never ever replace the darling that you lost, but they sure as heck help heal the hurt xx
