Tips for welcoming nervous rescue/feral cat?

We're about to welcome a 2 year old female cat from a rescue. She was a stray, had kittens and has been fostered for a few months. The rescue say she's an outdoor cat as they haven't been able to get her comfortable in a home. We have a utility room with a cat flap and live in an old farm. cat will have free access, once settled in, to the farm and a warm base in the utility. we are not expecting her to be that friendly or to be a house cat, we are happy to take her lead on contact.

Any tips to help her?

Cheese? Chicken? Smoked Salmon?

We’re in a similar situation, we adopted our little Nancy about 18 months ago, she came from a feral cat colony but we suspect she was pre-owned. In the warm weather she’ll be outside all day, at this time of year she only pops out to do the necessary. She seems to like being in our company, she’ll sit within two feet of us and roll around. She knows when it’s feeding time, at 5pm exactly she’s sitting in front of us.

One great thing is that she adores our male cat, cuddles up to him whenever she can.

She loves any treats, but she won’t take them from a hand, she’ll come up and knock them off!

Over the last 18 months she’s gradually got more relaxed with us, but it’s all baby steps.

Sounds like you’re in it for the long term, good on you!!
