New baby and anxious cat

Any positive stories of introducing a new baby with a cat who is abit anxious? I am due in 10 weeks and have 2 cats. One is so resilient he’ll be fine but the other is so loving and friendly but only with me and partner, he hides when strangers come into house.

im scared the change is going to be too much for him so looking for positive stories. He will have his own space, hiding places, water and litter in multiple locations, Felliway, let remedy etc. May even try zyklene leading up to due date and after or ask the vet for some anti anxiety medication.

just looking for positive stories and how you introduced them. Many thanks.

One of mine is very nervous but actually both cats just ignored our kid for the first 2 years of his life. Were a bit pissed off when he started walking but adjusted.
Make sure they have hiding places. Equally the baby's room was a no go for cats. Door always shut. He's 9 now (kid ☺️) and they all get on really well - only one cat scratch in all those years

I have a really nervous cat but actually he's not that bothered by children - he just stays out of the way.

Your cat probably just ignore the baby- don't try to 'introduce' them. Leave the cat to do its own thing.

Thanks guys. Yeah I won’t force an introduction. I know I am going to have my hands full but will try to make an effort for kitty cuddles when baby is sleeping. The cats are my life and I don’t want to proper lush their noses out!

Please don't worry - you won't know how they will react until it happens. We had 4 cats when we had dc1, all very different personalities, all were fine with the baby - from attentive to ignoring.
