I just want to share this with people I think will appreciate it.
We’ve always had cats, a year ago we’d had our 1.5 year old beauty Binx from he was 8 weeks old and I was itching to get another fur baby.
We don’t have many shelters nearby and those we do have are often particular about the cats being allowed outside access (but then refuse us as we live on a main road) or they want them to be the only cat.
So we began to look at gumtree etc, the trouble being I wanted them all!
Then an ad caught my eye ‘7 month of kitten £20’
The description simply read ‘Great cat, can deliver’
Something felt off, so I messsged the seller and enquired.
They told me he was 7 months old, had no injections, wasn’t neutered, hadn’t been treated for fleas/worms
When I asked what he ate I was told ‘no idea, he’s always outside’
And finally I asked, What’s his name
Only to be told that he didn’t have one!
I knew I had to take him, within twenty minutes they’d dropped him off with a litter tray and that was that.
He was skin and bones, had hair missing (which the vet said looked like it had been pulled out!) and he was terrified.
We got his jabs, neutering, treated him for fleas/worms and ticks, got him a full health check and to be safe a blood and urine analysis.
Apart from being malnourished, luckily he was fine.
But he growled if you went anywhere near him, and hissed if you went near the food, even if it was to refill.
It was a slow process, but a year later he is healthy, happy and is the sweetest, most affectionate boy. He chirps at you when he enters a room just to let you know he’s there, and he loves his cuddles. He loves to play, and is best buddies with Binx.
We named him Salem, and we couldn’t be prouder of our beautiful boy. Pic attached
