Cat is somewhere under the floor!

We're having some building work done at the moment so our cat has been hiding out during the day. Last night I saw him disappearing down a hole in the floor that the builders had left, couldn't catch him, so put down some Dreamies and a Lick e Lix and expected him to come out when he got fed up/hungry. Except he hasn't. He's not eaten anything or used the litter tray since last night. DH has been taking up floorboards all over the place but there's no sign of him anywhere 😞, and we've not heard him meowing or moving about either. I'm getting worried now, has anyone got any suggestions as to how we can find him?

Can you put out something stronger smelling like tuna? Not sure what a lick E Lix is and try calling his name? Poor kitty

SabrinaThwaite · 30/11/2023 20:49

Could he have found his way to the outside of the house somehow?

JeezWhatNext · 30/11/2023 20:51

Ping pong ball or rustling paper would be better than food for mine

Branster · 30/11/2023 20:56

OMG I've never heard of such a thing!
Poor cat and poor you too 😔

An open tin of sardines to entice her out?

Maybe she's staking for mice or spiders?
I've never had cats but I'm trying to imagine what else could she be doing in such a space, other than going to live with The Burrowers.

Is there any way she might have ended up next door if houses share a wall? Or outside through an air vent?

When my cat went missing, a local pet find charity gave me a heat seeking camera. If you could get hold of one you could scan the floor to see if he is still there.

Sardines or tuna on every access /exit point. Hopefully he'll pop his head out!

Batinthehouse · 30/11/2023 21:36

Thanks all.
DH says he can't get out of the house from under the floor. We're detached so he's not gone next door. The only way of escape from the house would have been past the builders and out the front door. Have checked around the garden and garage but no sign, posted on the local FB group just in case.
He's a weirdo cat that doesn't like fish but I'll try anything at this point! I'll also try jingling some of his toys, fingers crossed!

Roast a chicken? This brings all my cats running to run round my legs.

He's just appeared from one of the holes! Thanks for all your suggestions

Yay!

You could maybe change your MN name to catisbackinthehouse

Branster · 01/12/2023 00:25
