How long?

Hi all. So for the last 6 weeks or so my cat has been going to a neighbours house because they've been feeding her and letting her in. We found out and told them to stop. We kept her in for a few days but she became stressed so we let her back out. Despite saying they would no longer feed her she hasn't come back again for weeks. I don't know if she has multiple homes or just that one but it's horrible as my kids miss her so much. Today I finally saw her after a week and she has a new collar on that's not mine. The neighbours we know about are denying it. I've kept her in again but how long should I give it and am I being cruel keeping her in if she wants to go out? Will she ever get to a point of not going back or will she always go back to them anyway? I don't want a pet I have to share as I'm sure they won't contribute to my vet bills.

I am in the same situation with my 9 year old cat.He was born on the streets in a student area of our city. They sort of looked after him for a while then moved in.
We adopted him at 2 years old, had him neutered chipped etc, but even now 7 years later he goes back there. We are on a WhatsApp group with the students and they are lovely, but he's so happy there. They get in touch, I go to bring him back feed him up, and it all starts again.
I don't know the answer.
It's a mile away, so he must like being with them😹

Sorry should have said then at the end of the year the students move on, and he latches onto the next batch

This is also a student house my cat is going to. I'll never have another cat after this. It's just too heartbreaking and stressful.
