Anti scratch spray

Can anyone recommend an anti scratch spray that works? The smallest hooligan is driving me potty pulling at my stair and landing carpet.
There are scratch posts, scratch mats in the places he goes for but he moves them to one side and carries on the carpet.
i've tried picking him up and moving him to the 'right' place to scratch, given rewards when he goes to the 'right' places.
i've tried mad lemon spray as wanted something natural but that has done diddly squat!
He's overall a very happy and content chap so I don't think it's stress related. He's just a vandal!

The other one uses the post and mats (although has occasionally gone for the bannister but i can live with that as going to strip it back to the natural wood and varnish so less noticeable).

Oh they are gorgeous little hooligans.
I've had cats since 1980, and never found anything that works to stop them.My cats either did or didn't scratch.Tried scratch posts all over the house but no.
I haven't heard of an anti scratch spray, but if you could invent a foolproof one, you would be a millionaire overnight 😹😻

Try a heavy coir doormat? My cat prefers one over scratch pads.

I've never had any luck either. Tried Aristopet's one, it didn't bother Phoebe at all.

Have you tried a vinegar-water mix? They supposedly hate that smell.

I'm getting new chairs soon and have bought vinyl furniture protector sheets for the corners. Not much help for carpet, though!

All mine have liked a log!

he's now taken to every corner of the landing carpet so i've put heavy books down and gaffer tape on the stairs so it looks a right sight!

we have a scratch mat but maybe i need a bigger one.

i have jumped out of bed every time i've heard him scratch on the carpet, moved him and had words. he doesn't care!

genuinely will be so upset if the carpet is trashed. this is my forever home and i spent an absolute fortune on the carpets 2 years ago long before the notion of cats came along.

Spray pet remedy on the mats you want him to use. Cat's love it.

Feliway is supposed to help stop unwanted behaviour like scratching carpets. I currently have 3 small hooligans who scratch at the carpet. Since using the spray it has reduced.

Do you spray it where they are scratching or away from that area?
i've ordered a sample of the one recommended and will try the felliway as well if that might help

Spray it where they are scratching. It mustn't go near where they eat or drink.
