Cats and Christmas trees!

We're bringing home a new kitten next week as a new bestie (hopefully!) for our resident adult cat. Adult cat is used to. Christmas tree. She likes to knock off the baubles and chase them around the house which is ok but I'm thinking a kitten might climb or chew the tree as well? With this in mind which type of tree would be safer for him do you think? We usually have an artificial but would a real one be better this year? I don't know what to do for the best... Thanks

Real trees can be toxic to cats.

Thanks yes I've read the same. But I also read that it's VERY mild and they couldn't really eat enough to do harm. I was more worried about the needles really. But then if he chews a plastic tree, is that worse? It won't be possible to keep him out of the room with the tree because we're open plan.

My kittens are now 1 and 7 months, I didn’t have either of them last Christmas so this is our first year together 😀 we’re sticking with our fake tree, we’ve had no issues whatsoever with chewing from either (scratching yes, chewing no). I’m more worried about finding a new ‘angel’ on top of my tree!

honestly, I don’t think chewing will be any issue, stick to fake!

We've always had a fake tree with assorted kittens over the years and it's never been a problem.

If that's what you've had in previous years I'd stick with it.
