Cat diarrhoea

He's going to the vet, calling them tomorrow, but I wanted to see if anyone else had experienced this.

My 1 year old indoor DSH has had 3 runny, farty poops over the last 4 days. He usually poos once a day. On Thursday he had a runny one, Friday nothing, Saturday morning a normal one, Saturday afternoon a runny one. Then this afternoon another runny one.

He is acting normally, eating normally. The poo is normal in colour and smell (ugh, sorry), just very smooth and liquid. Not bloody or mucusy. He doesn't seem bothered by the evil sounds from his bum, going through his normal poo routine. I can't think of anything he could have got into, his food hasn't changed. He's always had a strong stomach, this is the first time having diarrhoea. No vomiting. His tummy feels normal, he lets me cuddle and pet him as he normally would.

I'm going to try Fortiflora. I know it's probably not serious as he has no other symptoms but I can't help but fret...

Have you tried ProKolin? Works wonders whenever any of mine have the squits!

You can get a special cat version but they can have the dog one too. We always have a tube in the cupboard.

How is he doing now OP? I’ve had almost exactly the same with my 8 month old cat, he’s an indoor cat and normally perfectly fine but he’s had runny poo the last two days.

After all that worry he's fine - I don't know if it was the Fortiflora or it was just a brief tummy upset that would have resolved itself, but we're back to normal poos now (touch wood)

He likes the Fortiflora though, cleans his plate with that on top.

Glad to hear your little guy is doing better now! Mine is going through the exact same thing since last night, runny “farty” poops, that smell god awful. He did one last night and two today so far. I’d never heard of FortiFlora before so I might need to give that a try!

Never underestimate the ability of a cat to get into something they shouldn’t <side-eyes Nijinsky, Thief Of Vegan Cake>.

Too many spiders? Have you any small[er] humans in the household who might “share” with the cat/have a Secret [Snack] Stash (square brackets as a friend’s anorexia was rumbled by family cat literally dragging her hidden uneaten food out into the open…)? “D”H letting DCat have the dregs of his cereal milk/a wee taste of his tea?

Very glad he’s better, anyway 😺
