Cat wandering in night

This isn’t a complaint more just a comment on my DCat.

She usually sleeps with me but has run of house apart from living room/kitchen area.

I had a friend stay recently and she stayed in the downstairs other living room as it has a big sofa bed and she hurt her leg before staying so preferred not to use the stairs too much. She mentioned my DCat had appeared beside her bed during the night a couple of times, either wanting to play or for affection, the door was left open but drawn to. Friend wasn’t bothered by this but said it was a bit of a surprise!

My DCat sometimes does this to me but as she sleeps there less often.

Previous DCat (male) never did this.

Are cats just curious generally?

I think many cats have secret lives that they prefer not to share. There was a tv programme a few years ago when they put gps trackers on cats and their owners were amazed at what they were getting up to.

In the summer mine will disappear from breakfast to teatime. No idea where he goes or what he does. He also likes to go off in the evening and quite often doesn’t come back until gone midnight - ignoring all treat rattling. Again it’s a mystery. Fortunately now the weather is colder and damper he stays closer to home thank goodness,it is one thing sitting in the garden late at night in the summer waiting for him, another when it is dark and cold……

@viques interesting to hear and I did see that programme.

My DCat adopted me but visits a house at the back of mine some weekend days, sometimes staying all morning/afternoon. I only noticed when I walked past their house and saw my DCat in their garden and being very friendly!

My previous cat was half Siamese and would wander but if you called him would always come straight back, you’d hear the thwack of his paws/body as he ran/jumped over wooden fences to come home!
