Cat weed in DS’s lap

Our lovely, very well-behaved kitty wee’d in my DS’s lap this afternoon. DS came home from school and sat on the kitchen floor with kitty on lap who promptly weed!

In the 3 years we have had him he has never done this. (He is nearly 4 so not old).

It could be the cat litter tray in terms of not liking it as he does prefer to go outside (he stays in on Weds when we are out until DS back from school as I’m at work) or it could be fear I guess. He was really scared over the weekend with the fireworks.

I guess I just have to monitor the situation and take him to the vets if he does it again. Any thoughts or advice please?

I would change the litter & box to something he prefers.
One of mine hated the normal type boxes, refused to use it got him a large one with a lid & sides and changed the litter to non-clumping and never had an accident since!

@AllQuietOnTheWesternFront yes thank you. I will try that. My DP deals with the litter tray and it looks like a different type that he bought so perhaps kitty doesn’t like it. He is such a well-behaved boy normally.
