Cheddar's wee seems really dark. Thought it was the different litter I used but completely back to usual one. I can't see any blood in it and she's not behaving like she did when she had cystitis.
She's completely her normal self, eating and drinking well. And very snuggly.
I've started . Her on Cystease just incase she's got a bit of stress cystitis from Penelope getting at her.

That looks like a "call the vet"situation to me!

Toddlerteaplease · 03/11/2023 05:25

Yes I'm
Going to take her on Saturday as I'm on nights. It's been going on for a while. It put it down to different litter.

Here's hoping that's all it is!

Toddlerteaplease · 03/11/2023 06:04

I keep studying it for blood.

What colour does it go if you just pour some water on the cat litter? Obviously it could be reacting with the chemicals in the urine but it's worth trying to see if it is the cat litter.

-ugh evidently I can't read this early in the morning!

You can try some specific urinary food too. My DCat had a bladder infection and completely off his food etc, another time he was absolutely fine but peeing blood that time they think it was crystals which managed to clear with change to urinary food and cytasase (sp?)

Toddlerteaplease · 03/11/2023 06:15

Tried that and it's dark grey. I will try find one if Penelope's clumps and see if it's the same. Penelope buries hers so it's easy to tell who's is who's. But think hers has been darker than it used to be. Which is what is making me wonder if it's the litter.

She's so well in herself though, it's odd. When she had cystitis, there was fresh blood on the floor and she was not happy. She's full of beans.

I think urinary food would probably upset her tummy. So reluctant to change her diet as I've found something that doesn't make her sick.

OP posts:
margotrose · 03/11/2023 08:01

Dehydration? Is she drinking enough water?

A quick google tells me it's not an emergency unless she's showing other symptoms of illness, and that it's often one of multiple symptoms if it has a serious underlying cause.

Obviously worth a vet trip anyway but I'd try not to panic if she's otherwise well in herself.

Toddlerteaplease · 03/11/2023 08:16

She's a really good drinker. She has her fountain. But the vessel of choice is a plastic beaker in my bedroom. All the clumps were that colour this morning. And some of them must be Penelope's. So who knows what's going on. I asked on Amazon if anyone else using the litter had the same issue and go one had.
She had bloods done in the spring and they were all ok. Her serial vomiting has also settled down as well. So I'm puzzled.

Catsmere · 03/11/2023 08:26

So more than one cat left clumps that colour? Makes me think it is the litter (fingers crossed). What's the brand, if you don't mind me asking?

Toddlerteaplease · 03/11/2023 08:44

It's Intersand classic. I've used it for years. Penelope is neat and tidy and buries hers. And Cheddar does not. She's booked in for tomorrow anyway. There are different coloured speckles in the litter I am so I am wondering if the formula has changed. But I'd rather get her checked out. To be on the safe side. You can get litter that changes colour for blood. But is almost as expensive as the vet's appointment!

OP posts:
Catsmere · 03/11/2023 09:07

I wouldn't for a minute suggest not taking her in 🙀. Getting these things checked is always the right move. I'm glad you were able to get a prompt appointment for her.

I see Intersand has a type that detects diseases, but it turns blue.

Toddlerteaplease · 03/11/2023 11:56

@Catsmere, yes I saw that but it's very expensive!

Ha, now why doesn't that surprise me? Even ordinary tofu litter is so expensive these days.

Toddlerteaplease · 03/11/2023 22:38

It's not much cheaper than the vet consultation, I did think about getting some.

OP posts:
Catsmere · 03/11/2023 22:52

Yikes! If vet consults there are as expensive as here, that’s horrendous!

Toddlerteaplease · 03/11/2023 23:11

£44 to see the vet. She's on the health plan and I think I may also get a blue light discount

OP posts:
Catsmere · 03/11/2023 23:47

Let's see, £44 is $83.62 ... I wish our vet bills were that low! Not that £44 is low at all, but ours are even crazier now. I had a return visit (ie same issue, they were just checking Phoebe's blood pressure) come to the reduced price of $90 recently. There's no health plan at my clinic, alas. Green Cross Vets is the only group I know that have one (yearly fee for reduced consult fees) and they don't operate in this city.

Where are you @Toddlerteaplease?

It's only £20 for a consultation here!

Toddlerteaplease · 04/11/2023 16:12

Vet wants a urine sample. He said it like it was so easy to get one

OP posts:
Toddlerteaplease · 04/11/2023 16:19

Penelope is confined to the spare room. Abd the granules are in a new tray for cheddar. Hopefully one of them will cave fairly soon. If Penelope has a wee and it's the same colour as cheddars then I'll know it's not a physical problem.

OP posts:
Catsmere · 04/11/2023 20:57

Vets always talk like getting urine samples from cats is easy! 🙄

Toddlerteaplease · 04/11/2023 22:04

I think it's unlikely I'll
Manage it but will give it a go.

OP posts:
Toddlerteaplease · 04/11/2023 22:07

Someone has weed in
The tray. But I don't think it was cheddar!
