Cat flap

My beautiful/daft cat won't use the cat flap. He'll go through it if it's propped open but it's cold now and we can't do that. We've tried treats, holding it open for a short time, encouragement, wiping him with a clean cloth to get his scent and then running that around the cat flap.. It's now a problem because he caught him weeing in a large indoor plant pot this morning!

Any other ideas please!!

No advice except maybe start him outside - he might be motivated to come in if he's cold and hungry!!
(And I have a chair like that with a grey (heated) blanket like that on it for WFH - and my cat always sits there the second I stand up!)

Haha! That's exactly what's happened here.

I've tried that, if I can get him outside then he will come bursting back in through the flap like he's on fire but he just won't go out that way. I don't want to force him, he's quite nervy anyway but in the summer loved being outside. His brother uses it no problem..

Does he not have a litter tray?

Yes he has a litter tray, he's always had one in the house from when they first arrived but I think he's got used to weeing on soil

I have no advice on the car flap, but peeing in unusual places requires a vet visit in males - I wouldn't be so quick to put it down to the cat flap being closed, especially if he has access to a litter tray.

It's one of the most common symptoms of UTI's, crystals and blockages - please kept him checked over by the vet. I say this from expensive experience!
