Cat hasn't come home 😢

MIL let our cat out as usual yesterday afternoon as we were away (back this morning) He has his cat flap set to let him in but not out. But he hasn't been home since. No point to this post really. I just feel very sad and helpless. I'm worried I'll never see him again 😔

I’m so sorry OP this would break me. Can you go out and find him? Take some dreamies?

JulesJules · 20/10/2023 21:41

I'm sorry to see this, fingers crossed for you that he'll just stroll in demanding food like a typical cat. My dear old lady cat Buffy once went missing for a week having barely ventured into the garden previously. She just turned up behind the sofa (her favourite spot).

Kittybelle123 · 20/10/2023 21:42

Oh you poor thing. I've been there so know that constant, nagging worry you have. Keep calling and shaking his treats; you may find he feels safer coming home in daylight Flowers

CSR721 · 20/10/2023 21:46

We have walked around the block a few times with the dreamies box. Been calling him all day. Put Tuna outside which has always lured him back before. My husband has been and spoken to some of the neighbours and put posters through letterboxes. Ivr posted to our local fb page but waiting to be approved. Going to walk round once more before I give up for the night 😔 I'm utterly heartbroken

I really hope he comes home soon❤️can you try putting towels/clothes with your scent on at the end of the garden. Maybe put his picture up local shops in case he’s got locked in a garage or shed.

IDidntKnowMyOwnStrength · 20/10/2023 21:46

Cats do normally return in the night so really hope yours does. They say to hang bedding out on line as they have excellent sense of smell.
I recently got a cat tracker for one of mine and it's fantastic, tells me exactly where he is, and usually he's not that so far away, just gives me peace of mind.

CSR721 · 20/10/2023 21:51

Omg. I just opened the back door to put his litter tray out and he came bounding in!! Soaking wet and starving hungry but safe. I'm so relieved. He's grounded for the weekend ❤️

Aww I'm glad he's come back safe. ❤

Londonlondon4 · 20/10/2023 21:54

So happy to read this! Cuddles, dreamies and tuna required.

Rubbishagain · 20/10/2023 21:54

That’s the best news. So happy for you. Definitely dreamies and cuddles this evening

LancashireSquirrel · 20/10/2023 21:56

Phew!! So relieved for you.

Guiltypleasures001 · 20/10/2023 21:57

So pleased for your op
Can we have a cat tax pic please Grin

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 20/10/2023 22:04

There does seem to be a very strong correlation between posting about a lost cat on MN and said cat turning up 30 minutes later. It's almost as if the cats are stalking our posts 🙀.
Very pleased he's back OP.

CSR721 · 20/10/2023 22:07

Pics for tax ❤️❤️❤️

Oh what a gorgeous house panther

Lookingatthesunset · 21/10/2023 01:39

So glad he came back!!! This is why my two rescue girls are indoors only!!

Both of them were straying outdoors but since we adopted them, they have been happy to be indoors!!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 21/10/2023 15:39

Awww butter wouldn’t melt !

Our male house panther who is extremely shy has gone awol twice , once for 14 hours. You can imagine yourself how stressed we were. DH , Dd and DS went off calling and shaking Dreamies . DH posted on local FB sites.
We got a Black Cat Found reply but wasn’t him.

He strolled in late at night , probably hiding somewhere chuckling,

You can definitely ground him for his tardiness!

CSR721 · 21/10/2023 19:38

@70isaLimitNotaTarget they do like to keep us on our toes! Yes he has been grounded today. He's now shouting at me to go out 🙈 but I'm not letting him out until tomorrow morning when it's light. On a related note if anyone can recommend a collar, I'd really appreciate it, as he can't seem to keep one on for more than a day without losing it so I gave up putting one on but with him being black I much prefer it when he has something reflective on. Also any recommendations for trackers as I've looked into them before but never managed to settle on anything but it would give me peace of mind to be able to see where he is!
