Uninvited guest, now what?

Hello :)

I currently have 3 cats and a labrador living in my house. My husband put the garbage out the front last night and a white and black cat sauntered in and made himself comfortable on my sofa. My existing 3 cats had an emergency meeting and loudly vocalised their views on this new guest, they started fighting each other. Trouble is, my new guest (Let's call him Bruce) is very skinny, was miaowing and as it turns out from Facebook, has been living outside for a while. Luckily I have a fully enclosed garage where my car lives so I set up an emergency house for Bruce and gave him a bed, water and meals. I've spoken to local animal rescues to ask them for advice but they said "What do you want us to do?". I have searched every Lost and Found group, I have rung shelters and rescues but nobody is missing Bruce. He's a very loving little chap but he can't live in my garage because he needs a home and a family and Winter is Coming. Can anyone advise please?

I like Bruce.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/10/2023 15:34

Being sat on and purred at during the night is a Brucie Bonus( or he might be plotting to kill you in your sleep).

My own cats were little garden kittens when they were rescued. But I used to look at my Guinea pigs ( we had 8 over the years) and say “ I can see why you lot were put up for re homing …”

Bruce needs to lose his nads to gain his home.
Have you any idea how old he is?

RicherThanYews · 20/10/2023 20:29

@70isaLimitNotaTarget Apparently not named after any of the famous people from your list. He is Bruce after Bruce Campbell!
He is 100% losing these gonads, Rule 1 of being owned by a cat is sorting that out because I ain't raising no grandbabies. I estimate about 8/9 months, the vet says same ballpark. He's a curious wee soul and we love him but every time I see how small and lovely he is my heart aches for all the days and nights he may have been alone in the dark.

He does look a small wee thing, but how absolutely lovely that he has a nice warm loving home and gorgeous family looking after him.

Don’t let your heart ache for what he went through before finding you because he’s now chuffed to pieces with his home and obviously loving every minute of it. Happy days all round.

Could we have a weekend picture of handsome Bruce enjoying his new life?

@friendlycat you're quite right, he's safe now, I'm just a soppy old bugger. Here is sleepy Bruce for tax:

Bruce is beautiful.

Kittensat36 · 21/10/2023 23:11

I'm just waiting for the day when one of my two turn up with a kitten in her gob, having found it living rough. It's gonna happen - the older one was the Cat In Charge of a kitten room at the rescue, so she's pretty maternal.

Kittensat36 · 21/10/2023 23:12

PS Bruce is gorjuss.

RicherThanYews · 22/10/2023 08:45

@Kittensat36 Your cat sounds adorable but you mentioned cats and now you owe back taxes, picture please 😁😁 ooh and names!

Question I have to ask though
is he Bruce after

Forsyth
Willis
The Shark From Jaws
The Shark From Finding Nemo

or my favourite
Dickinson?

Banner. Surely?

TruthThatsHardAsSteel · 22/10/2023 20:43

Campbell. Even better. I'd know that chin anywhere 😂

How adorable you are for homing this poor kitty. 😍😻

RicherThanYews · 22/10/2023 23:02

@Kittensat36 Ty for the picture! Minouche is a very sophisticatted kitty but clearly camera shy.

@TruthThatsHardAsSteel For a minute I thought you meant that you recognised MY chin! 😂😂

Banner. Surely?

I thought Wayne, what with the Batcat mask and helmet.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 22/10/2023 23:19

You’ll need to change the title as. Clearly your three cats invited Bruce In.
And can I just express how jealous I am that he’s been there a matter of days and already snuggled up to you. My cats have been here over 4 years and the best I get is being walked over to get to DH. 😼

friendlycat · 22/10/2023 23:52

Bruce looks super happy. I’m very pleased for him.

It looks like he even has his own blanket. Bless him.

RicherThanYews · 23/10/2023 10:11

@70isaLimitNotaTarget he lays in my arms like a baby and just purrs, he is the sweetest wee boy.

If you ask you vet to neuter him tell them you have found a stray and want to get him neutered via cat protection- £10 for chip and neuter and pain relief now. One of mine got his v large furry Pom poms off last week- home after theee hours and never even phased him!
