Pet insurance - Many Pets

Just about to renew with them and am on hold on a call to make a query.

I’m number 31 in the queue, unchanged for the 10 min I’ve been holding!

I am enquiring about the jump in premium from £116 last year to £141 this year - Lola is 5 yo.

Based on the price and long wait time for calls I’m thinking of switching.

Any recommendations for cover?

Have you made any claims that could become exclusions on a new policy?
A jump at 5 years old is not uncommon as chronic problems begin to start then.

Maggiethecat · 16/10/2023 15:08

No, no claims or conditions to disclose.

A increase in £25 isn’t huge especially since the excess is only £69 (relatively speaking).

But seriously, I’ve been holding for 30min and I’m now at position 21!

ManyPets were sold recently and since then the new owners have embarked on cutting staff and raising prices beyond inflation.
They have lost many many customers as a result, including myself when they took 6 weeks to answer an email regarding my claim which they then took another month to approve.

I would be careful. If your vet has treated your cat for any condition it could mean you cannot be insured for it in future.

Many Pets cover my cat’s dental treatment which is fairly unusual, so I will stick with them for now. I pay about £68 a year. Had my cat 3 years. He is a rescue with FIV. Been treated for dental and kidney investigations.

£68 a month not year!!!!

Maggiethecat · 16/10/2023 15:43

Thankfully she’s not been treated for anything.

I'm now position no 5 after an hour, with the spiel “we are receiving a higher number of calls than usual…”

@ToBeOrNotToBee - can understand you defecting!

@B12B12 - will check to see who offers dental because it’s something I’d like covered.

Think this is the time to run since she’s not had any illness/treatment; can’t imagine making a claim with them at this rate!!

i used to have my cats insured with petplan who i switched to as they cover dental. When one cat died and i realised i had paid out way more than i ever got back i decided to cancel and save the amount i was paying into a separate bank account instead.

Maggiethecat · 16/10/2023 17:31

@cannotfindanickname - I’ve considered that but one serious illness or accident could put you seriously out of pocket so it really is a risk.

Finally got through to them - they offer a £30 Amazon voucher if you renew - tempting….
