Cat throwing up water

I’ve noticed once every week or so for the past few weeks my cat has been throwing up water. I’ve seen him do it. There was a hairball a couple of months ago but he isn’t prone to them, and since then it’s just the water. He is eating, drinking and toileting as usual and he does go outside during daylight hours although now it’s colder he is happy staying in. There has been no change in his behaviour. Any ideas?

Is he just drinking too quickly? One of mine will regurgitate if he eats/drinks too fast.

@margotrose I wouldn’t say any faster than usual. He’s not a big drinker anyhow as he mostly eats wet food.

If he's otherwise fine in himself I would probably just keep an eye on him, but be prepared to take him to the vet if he gets worse or develops other symptoms.

If he's had a hairball though it could be worth trying some hairball paste in case there's one in there he can't bring up.

Is it definitely water rather than clear bile? If it's bile, it's vet time - pronto
