Anal Prolapse Kitten Help!

We are fostering the sweetest calico girl kitten 12 weeks who had a stitch under general to fix a prolapse the day we took her in . The operation seemed successful but she developed constipation and after an unsuccessful micro enema needs an enema under general tommorrow . Very scared for her and worried after being told she might need the rectum to be stitched internally in a larger operation . Has anyone any experience of this and can you give me any hope she will fully recover ? Despite her obvious pain she is bright and alert ,sweet tempered, cuddly and loving and we want to give her the best chance we can .

Hi how big is the prolapse? Our cat developed one and after arriving at the vets for the operation to fix it, the head of the practise took a look and decided on a course of steroid cream instead... it worked! His was only a small prolapse tho but it was worrying. They decided against putting a stitch in as it can apparently make it worse. He was 9 months old tho rather than a small kitten. No recurring issues so far. Hope your kitten is OK x

Thank you both . It’s all working correctly so far post treatment. Keeping my fingers crossed that this is just a bump in the road for this little scruff .

I love Calico cats We had 2, they were litter mate sisters and lived to be 19 and 21 years old.
