Anyone have Flat cat screens?

Are they any good? As Penelope is going where no Persian has gone before, I need to keep her in! But they are quite expensive.

Yes, absolute game changers! Wish we had had them years ago.

Brilliant over the summer as we could have the windows open all the time with no cats escaping. One cat completely ignored them, one tried climbing them but even hanging off one it didn't come down or damage it.

Added bonus - they keep the flies and moths out.

EmpressaurusOfCats · 11/10/2023 12:32

They’re brilliant. Very very easy to install by yourself & very secure. I’ve had a hefty Houdini who tried & failed to break through them, & a kitten who likes climbing them, & they always hold.

Toddlerteaplease · 11/10/2023 12:42

Persians are not supposed to be climbers!

Brilliant - lifesavers in hot weather. They aren't the prettiest things but could be an awful lot worse - don't notice mine from the outside unless you're really looking hard for them, and I have voile panels on the inside so they aren't too obvious.

I've had Girlcat trying to break out in the very early days, and a couple of local cats trying to break in, with no success on their part. They let as much light in as usual, though they do cut the glare just a bit in bright sunshine. Best thing is that they don't just keep the cats in but also all except the teeniest flying things out, but you still get the breeze coming through!

Thoroughly recommended. I have them in my living room & my bedroom, and Girlcat loves sitting in the window with the breeze ruffling through her coat.

I have them. We actually got them to keep the neighbours' cats out! I don't find them noticeable at all - this was taken close up

All my childhood Persians jumped.

Ive got flat cats and they’re great.

Clarich007 · 11/10/2023 20:41

Do you think Penelope is just a regular moggy in disguise.? 😬

Clarich007 · 11/10/2023 20:44

Are your girls indoor cats ? The window screens look like a great idea !

dun1urkin · 11/10/2023 20:49

We’ve got them, they’re really good. Very easy to fit.

Yes!

Have ordered some screens. Hopefully I got the measurements right!

Yes indoor cats. Never had an issue with the kitchen window before as none of the other three were jumpers. So they never even tried to get on the units.

I'm a bit late as I can see you ordered them, but I have these on my tilt n turn window www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/cats/cat_flaps_nets/window_protection/29950?variantid=29950.1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwj5mpBhDJARIsAOVjBdqU_oIqjcs-Cy5Spr1FK0YObOftoiMeekfvk8An-lWTYZUfliUsqCIaAvh0EALw_wcB

Vixen and Toad like to sleep on the one over my bedroom window, I think they like to feel the fresh air in their tummy fur 😻

Toddlerteaplease · 12/10/2023 09:43

I might just get some cheaper restrictors for the windows that I don't open much.

OP posts:
Oldraver · 12/10/2023 19:28

I made my own, you can by the silicon mesh on Amazon. You will need sew on velcro for the mesh as the stick on stuff wont stick

Toddlerteaplease · 12/10/2023 22:50

@Oldraver that is way beyond me!

They are being delivered tomorrow! Impressive service!

BookWorm45 · 13/10/2023 10:10

We have them, it's been absolutely brilliant - fresh air without the worry. This is the 2nd year they've been up and they still look clean, velcro still sticks.

Toddlerteaplease · 13/10/2023 15:22

Stupid question but how do they actually work?

OP posts:
EmpressaurusOfCats · 13/10/2023 16:35

The screens come with velcro edging and you get a big separate reel of tape with velcro on one side & stickiness on the other. You cut the pieces to the right lengths, stick them around the window / door & then stick the screen edgings to the velcro. If I want to open or close a window I just peel the screen off in the right place & put my hand through the gap.

Toddlerteaplease · 14/10/2023 15:37

Can you wash them?

OP posts:
FormerlyPathologicallyHappy · 14/10/2023 16:57

I lay them in the bath and spray multisurface over them, then wipe with a microfibre cloth. I tried machine washing them but it didn’t go well.

user1471548941 · 14/10/2023 17:07

We have them- one of mine is a half Bengal nicknamed Houdini and he’s not even realised he could get behind them! We would recommend- we like that we can have the windows fully open for breeze but our boys are safe!

Toddlerteaplease · 14/10/2023 20:54

Just installed them. They are brilliant! Not the prettiest to look at but I'm sure I won't notice them soon!

The box they came in is being completely ignored. Am glad that Penelope is normal in that regard!

EmpressaurusOfCats · 15/10/2023 17:28

I stopped noticing mine really quickly. What does Penelope think of them so far?
