Cat Acne

Does anyone have any experience of cat acne?

I think my rescue cat may have it. It is on his vet notes that there are signs of a previous skin allergy. He has two black bits on his face that I think could be acne spots. One under each eye.

I will make an appointment with a vet. What should I expect the vet to do? I don't think he would let me wash his face or apply any cream to the area. He runs away when I try to get a closer look. Will it clear up on its own?

Any advice you have would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

Hmm, one of mine had adolescent catne but it was only in his lower chin. Never heard of it in cheeks before. Cat acne will go away on its own usually

Thank you

Maybe is not cat acne. I saw that when I googled symptoms. I will speak to the vet about his skin.

One of mine has chronic chin acne (she has mild IBD, think it's to do with that). I use chlorhexidine wipes that my vet makes up for her, and a flea comb for if the blackheads build up a bit. Different is she isn't too bothered by it. I used to use dilute Betadine and a cotton swab, which, strangely, bothered her far more.

One thing you can do (if you haven't already) is get him ceramic or stainless steel bowls and plates and clean them daily, if not more. Plastic tends to build up bacteria.

Edit - whoops, just reread and saw the spots are under his eyes. Definitely not chin acne!
