Why does my kitten lick me so much?

I took this a minute ago just before he clambered up to lick my nose. We have two kittens, brothers. They're both batshit crazy but when they get tired Thumbs likes to come to me and lick my fingers/hands, nibble at my nails (I have acrylics) and he likes to climb up to lick my chin and nose. He is SO LICKY!! Why does he do it?

I don't know, but he's adorable. 🤗 Thank you for the cat tax.

Being serious - grooming is a social activity for (some) cats, he is obviously bonded with you. Or maybe he just likes your taste.

Because he thinks you don’t groom yourself properly. Once he’s older he’ll teach you to catch mice too by bringing you some to practise on.

Sodding (not his real name) grooms us sometimes when he’s super chilled. DS1 is ‘his person’ and the one he bonded with most tightly as a kitten. He grooms DS1 way more than the rest of us. It sounds like you are Thumbs’ person.

Sodding also taps our feet with a back paw or stands on a foot when we are standing or sitting. We looked it up and it is a way of showing physical affection because we’re too tall to rub cheeks or groom our heads.

My kittens many years ago were enthusiastic lickers and continued to lick/groom me throughout their lovely lives. I recognise that expression!
One of them did the patting/touching gently with paw too. She used to pat me gently on the cheek to wake me up, and when I woke, lick my nose.

3 of the 4 of mine are lickers. Ours is definitely grooming though, as they are usually grooming their selves when they do it.

Your kitty loves you very much. If it bothers you, you can re-direct. You may find he sooks on you too! Mine was an earlobe sooker for a few years before we finally re-directed her and now she licks our hands instead.
