Cat with a skin allergy?

My lovely Bengal is booked in for a Vet appointment this week but I'm wondering if you have any advice (name change but you have been wonderful help previously)

About 2 weeks ago I noticed that he had a bare patch on his head and I assumed that he had been in a fight. He isn't a fighter at all but does occasionally get picked on. Within the last week he has lost a lot of fur on his head, and around his ears. His flea treatment is up to date but he is constantly scratching and licking.

He is a sensitive soul and did over lick and cause hair loss at his tail when I was going through my divorce, but this seems different

I'd say flea allergy or mites and the stuff you're using isn't cutting it.

Harvest mites are a bugger this year apparently, our vet said she's seen cats suffering the effects pretty much every day this season.

The most annoying thing is the spot on treatment that can kill them is out of stock everywhere because of it

If it is Harvest mites it should die down soon though 🤞

Our younger cats have scabby ears at present due to harvest mites. As others have said above, they should be disappearing fairly soon.

As an aside though, from your description
He isn't a fighter at all but does occasionally get picked on... He is a sensitive soul.
Are you sure you have a Bengal? 😹

@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats he is my first Bengal (I'm used to Siamese) but from what I know he is far from a usual Bengal 😂 he was hand reared (not by me) so maybe that accounts for his sensitivity and his almost dependent relationship with me. He does have his issues but is a sweet boy!
