Odd scab next to my kittens nose

Hello everyone 🐈 First time posting here, I am a little worried about our new kitten.

We welcomed Steve a week ago (he is 17 weeks old), Brittish Shorthair. Today is the first day he is confident to come out in broad day light and I noticed a little scab next to his nose. He doesn’t mind me touching it / rubbing it while petting him, so I don’t think he’s in pain.

The that worries me is that I looked at pictures of him a week ago and it seems like it was already there but very small, could it be a mushroom that has grown? Acne? We will take him to the vet next week but I just wanted to see if anyone has something similar before 🥺❤️

Here are 3 pictures of today and one of a picture taken at the breeder 10 days ago.

thank you in advance!

Oh he's gorgeous, what a beautiful cat.
I wonder if it's a scab.Has he caught it on something ?

It looks a bit like irritation to me. I wonder if he's caught it on something or he's rubbing his nose on the bowl when he's eating/drinking?

Hello everyone,

thank you you so much for replying so fast! 🫶 aww thanks he’s such a cutie I know 🥹

it definitely feels more like a scab, the breeder said it could maybe be from his mom or siblings, would it be possible for the scab to be growing because he’s growing so fast right now?

He has a ceramic bowl with curved sides to the inside (slows down eating) so that could be something yes, I’ll change it today and see if it improves ❤️

Should I try to remove the scab with warm water do you think?

thanks 🙏

Personally I would just leave it - scabs are good as they mean healing, so I would just let it fall off naturally.

Good point, okay thank you so much!

Does he have any chin acne? My girl gets acne on her chin which scabs like that and it can spread up to the whisker pads. Its because of the hair follicles being clogged. Its not a huge problem, but I keep it clean with very very dilute hibiscrub (literally a few drops in say 200ml warm water, dip cotton wool in and wipe). Plastic feeding bowls make it worse.

Good day, i know its been long since this post and I have the same issue as you and i was wondering if you could provide an update as my cat has the exact same however hers seems to be growing, we have been to numerous vets and they all seem to think its an allergy@Stevelover
