I wasn't expecting kittens to beg!

We can't eat around our kittens at all! If you have any sort of food they will climb all over you to investigate and try to steal it right out of your hands!

Is that normal?? I've never known a cat do anything like that before! They have plenty of food out so it's not a matter of them being hungry. I have to shut them in the kitchen while we eat otherwise we're just wrestling kittens instead of eating.

They grow out of it. We got ours at 9 weeks and now at 5 months they will let us eat in peace. Although they are still capable of stealing from my 4 year old child. They have taken many a ham sandwich and stuck their faces in her milk. But we no longer have to get them off the table every 5 seconds.

Dinner time is when you get out the Dreamies Toy that they have to play with to get the treats out of (locked in the kitchen).

Mines 9 and I still get mugged if I'm eating tuna... or watermelon. It's a lot calmer these days

Weirdly enough I had some tuna sandwiches today and they left me alone! Confused

My previous cat was 5 years old before he decided he loved tuna. Up until then he would turn his nose up at it. So your kittens may eventually change their mind about tuna!

Yes! We had to lock them out of the room they were so annoying. I think by the time they were one they had calmed down. They are two now and it's no problem (one is very food driven, one isn't).

What a gorgeous pair of rapscallions!

CheshireCat1 · 28/09/2023 19:59

We used to have a cat that tried to paw food out of your mouth.

Yes, my Siamese do this, they want to sniff and occasionally want more especially if it's got butter, oil or cheese. Poppadoms are a fave.

flustereddriver75 · 28/09/2023 20:06

My first 3 cats weren't bothered about food so it was a shock when I got my current pair, on the first night (when I had expected them to be timid!!) the boldest kitten threw herself bodily into the middle of my chicken casserole.
Five years on I can't leave any food out and they will still try to sneakily edge a bit of food off my plate with their paws. They are a bit better though.

Just hiss at them. It works!
