What age can kittens have clumping litter?

DH bought some clumping litter accidentally and the kittens are 10 weeks old. I googled it and it says they can have it from 2-3 months. Will they be alright with it or would you not risk it?

We got a 9 week old kitten 3 weeks ago and the litter the rescue gave us was clumping litter.

We've always used clumping litter for our cats and as new kittens have arrived (at 8 or 9 weeks) they have used the same tray and litter.
None have ever shown a penchant for eating it.

Oh fab, in that case I'll just use it then and see how they get on with it!
