Medivet

Our local vet along with every other in the area is now a Medivet.
He's 12 and I have never bothered with insurance. They are trying to flog me a monthly plan for £13,50 a month. Can't decide if it's worthwhile. He has bravecto every 3 months plus worming and annual vaccinations / check up.
I can't find anywhere that spells out their fees. Is this deliberate or am I missing something?

You could ask them? If they are trying to sell you their monthly vet plan, they should be happy to explain how much money you would save by taking it up and to do that they would have to also tell you what the costs would be without the plan.

An examination & boosters I think costs around £60 typically, Bravecto costs £20-25 per dose, so you're up to a minimum of £150 already - which is the cost of the vet plan over a year. Add into that the worming, and extra check up, an annual urine test and the discount they offer on other visits & treatments (all on the Medivet web site) then it does look like decent value for money.

I don't actually have a vet plan (though I do have insurance) as mine are indoor cats so don't need the regular worming & flea treatment that in/out cats need so it would cost me more.

Just double check what it includes, our vet ( not medivet who I hate ) tired to sell them to us and for our new kitten it was worth it as she had the initial costs of vaccinations but they offered only 50% of the vaccination in the first year of the membership, so we didn't save anything for our older cat and didn't get it for him. We pay £15.50 a month for the little one and that includes 3 vet consults if needed and something off food but we don't get it from them- all vets seem to push the same two brands. I have to say I think its got very expensive to have cats. Insurance is an absolute must.
