Weaning age

We are due to take our new kitten home next week age 8 weeks but I've been reading that older is better.

Is 8 weeks OK? How will we know he is ready? I've had a cat before but she was a young adult rescue.

Ideally 9 weeks but 8 weeks is ok. if the mum allows the kittens to be handled and socialised then it can be later

Yarnysaurus · 09/09/2023 21:38

8 weeks is the absolute minimum, 12 is ideal.

We got our 2 boys at 8 weeks. They already knew how to use the litter and were on solid foods

8 weeks is fine. We've had all our kittens from that age (or younger as two were rejected by mum) and none of them had any issues.

Weaner!

That is all

Lol @PlipPlopChoo

When we saw them the kittens were active, exploring away from mum and used to be handling.

So sounds like we are good to go! Can't wait!
