Got to keep cat in - won't use the litter tray :(

My handsome boycat is lame and the vet has said to keep him in for a few days. Any advice on getting him to use the litter tray?

I have had to keep him in the living room away from the catflap so everything is in a different place from usual. He's eating fine but he so far hasn't used the litter tray (as far as I can tell). He hasn't used it in about 4 years (ie since we got the catflap). The tray is away from his food, it's to one side so a bit more private, I have sprinkled some soil in it. Any other ideas? Should I buy different litter and try that? (currently using the same wood-based litter as when he was a kitten, which he used fine then) It's been over 48hrs since he's peed, vet said his bladder was quite full on Wednesday morning. Either he's going in a corner that I haven't found or he's got a bladder of steel!

Have added pic of handsome boy as cat tax. 😊

Well problem solved! I tried one more time popping him into the litter tray and this time after he hopped straight out (as he has been doing) he hopped back in and did the longest wee I have ever seen! 😅 It was like that scene from Austin Powers. I stopped counting mississippis after about 20. I am so relieved! As, it seems, is he.

Shortest thread ever?😀

Shortest thread but the most handsome cat picture 😍

That's good!

I was going to post that my last cat was the same, but would relent eventually.

Beautiful kitty. Is that the after picture once he'd halved in size? 😂

Haha, yes he's deflated down to the size of a dormouse now. 😅 Thank you, he is a handsome lad. 😻 He's still extremely unhappy at being kept in but I feel much better now he's used the litter tray. Was worried he'd explode!
