3 week holiday

15 year old cat, has a cat flap, never been in a cattery.

The longest he's been left is 2 weeks before. But fairly regularly for a week or weekends. Neighbour feeds him morning and night and he gets a visit and a fuss from the in laws or a friend most days..not every day.

He's a bit needy but fine when we get back.

I'm wondering if 3 weeks is too long for this set up - or should we put him in a cattery - which he'd hate.

Use house sitters- I always do!

I’d find a good cattery. Even my Bengal went in a cattery and he was clingy as fuck.

These good ones out there.

If he's done it for 2 weeks he can do it for 3 weeks with just feeds 2x a day and occasional visits. If he knew the cattery, or even if he was younger, I'd suggest it, but surely a cattery would just distress him. Cats don't experience time the same way we do, 3 weeks will be much of a muchness to 2 weeks or 1 week. As long as your neighbour is happy to do 2x a day visits and he has other people popping in, and you're comfortable with it, leave him in his home.

If he's happy home alone for two weeks he'll be fine for three.

I've looked after cats in their own home for a month before while their owners were away - they were absolutely fine!
