Adopting a Persian

First post so bear with.

Our beautiful old lady cat died earlier this year at the ripe old age of 20 and the past month I’ve been craving a new cat but wanted ideally to rescue.

There is a one year old male Persian at our local rescue centre who I’m a bit taken with. Husband doesn’t really get it (he’s a bit quirky looking) but I think he’s adorable.

I haven’t owned a Persian before, I’ve had a long haired cat though and am used to grooming etc. But what else should I be aware of? I want to inform myself as much as possible before making a commitment.

He is quite flat faced and reminds me of Gizmo 😂

Trying not to think of too many names ‘just in case’ but rather like Pan (Pancake) on account of his flat face 🤣

Ah yes forgot to say .. that despite inheriting 80% floofiness she was a prolific hunter who left me with a life long bird phobia following the delivery of a barely alive magpie on my chest at aged 8 .. I was so completely traumatised I couldn't even scream coherently... and yet I loved her completely and absolutely..

If you want to test drive a Persian. Cheddar is available for loan, so I can have an uninterrupted nights sleep. She's a lonely cat, but since loosing my other one she's incredibly full on!

Boy Persians are the best! I've got a girl and as lovely as she is, I want a boy next time!

It's an older picture as my phone is full of baby pics now 😬 bad cat mam. But this is my girl, she is 9 year old now! Been nothing but trouble but such are torties 😂

She's gorgeous. Almost as gorgeous as my girl!

I've had persians and they are fab. One was a very good hunter. The other was a bit of a scaredy-cat and preferred to hang around the house and be a big floof. Grooming is essential and constant (but they loved it and so did I).

Really really well! The children loved him and he was very friendly and straight over for a sniff and a cuddle. We pick him up next week and are all counting down the days 🥰

Oo how exciting!! I'm really glad. My new girl arrives on Friday. Also counting down the days. Make sure you post lots of pictures!

He’s home… I love him and his grumpy face
