Getting my kitten spayed

I have a 5 month old kitten. I got her at 11 weeks from Cats Protection. Due to a nasty worm infection she was, and still is, small. Today she weighed in at 2 kg.
So here is the problem. We are teachers and were hoping she could have the op over the summer so we can be with her. The vet that CP want us to use is a car drive away but the vets that we want to use is in the next street. The CP vet want her to be 2.5kg which will take a while, it’s taken a month to get her from 1.5 to 2.

If we use our local vet we could drop her off in the morning before school in a Friday, have the op done and then be with her over the weekend. If we use the CP vet then it wouldn’t be until October half term that we could do it as we can’t get there during opening hours.
Getting her done at the CP vet would be free. At the local one it would be £140.

So what would you do? If I wait until late October will she go into heat?

Hope she has a comfortable night . Our girl ended up in a suit as she wouldn’t leave her wound alone , but the main problem was stopping her from leaping about , it didn’t seem to bother her at all .

We put her in a suit and she hated it. The vet said that she could be without suit or cone so long as she was with us.

Ours hated the suit the first night , acted like she had had a stroke but was fine when we eventually had to put her in it which was day 3 once she got used to it . It didn’t help that we have 2 and her brother was helping her fiddle with her wounds .

How is she today PriamFarrl.?

PriamFarrl · 05/09/2023 20:33

Hello. She’s fantastic thanks. She has left her wound alone entirely and is back to full strength. She had a check up at the vets and they are happy with her.

Meant to say she's beautiful.
I love black cats 😻

We have just gone to bed and she is running around like a complete loon. This is her right now.

Sensible choice of bedding colour there - you're less likely to be surprised by a bunch of tiny needles and a squawking noise when you sit on the bed!
