Diabetic cat suddenly blind

Tonight our 15yr old girl came in and couldn’t see anything. Rushed to emergency vet who said her eyes are responding to light, but her reflex isn’t there. Blood pressure was a bit high, but he felt that could be the stress of it all. She’s home now and set up in the kitchen, with everything around her.
anyobe had experience of this? Will we adapt to being blind. Could this be a stroke? I can’t stop crying that my beautiful girl is going through this

Your poor girl. I've no experience but I have read cats adapt quite well to blindness; their hearing is superior to that of humans and even dogs so it can compensate. Hopefully someone with experience will be along soon.

Our dog lost her sight due to diabetes and complication after cataract surgery. She was fine, could easily navigate house and garden and did off lead walks with our other dogs. Probably be a few scary moments but hope your cat copes well

Thanks for all the messages and info. She was fine this morning-seemed to have normal vision then this evening when she came in from the garden-same thing happened. We’re now wondering is it going from dark to light, or an evening thing? So odd. She’s perfectly happy-eating and drinking. Will be talking to our usually vet asap, but slightly less panicky now!

Update-we saw our vet and all bloods came back perfect. They don’t know what it is either. Unlikely to be strokes as it only happens at night. So strange but she’s coping so well!
