Cat litter recommendations for no smell please

I feel like we've tried a ton of different makes but all seem to smell... Any recommendations please? Ideally one that's not terrible for the planet!

Has anyone ever made a toilet area outside for the cat? She goes outside sometimes but often comes back in to poo 🙄 so was wondering about making a plant-free area I outside I can do the occasional poo pick from? Maybe mix soil and gravel together? Thanks

We use Greenwoods plant-based clumping litter for our three.

I pay £35 for 60l and it lasts us about three months. Mine are indoor cats so only ever go in their trays. I clean out the trays (we have three) and fully replace the litter every two weeks on bin day, but otherwise I just scoop out the poo and wee clumps several times a day and top up where necessary.

We tried loads of other types beforehand but either the cats hated them, they were a nightmare to clean or they smelt awful after a few days. Never had any issues since and even our kitten likes it as it's small and soft on his paws.

Another recommendation for Greenwood's

Best one I have used is the tofu litter from Hide and Seek. Katkin have one very similar. It’s clumping and the odour control is amazing. I can’t smell cat pee even whilst scooping!

After years of using heavy clumping litter, I now use wood pellets - best thing I ever did! Easy to manage, lightweight, and no smells.

Watching with interest

We’ve recently moved to wood pellets

Sanicat clumping unscented. Doesn't smell at all, but also sometimes doesn't clump that well.

I like wood pellets but my cat doesn't, she won't cover anything, so it really smells. She is an enthusiastic coverer with Sanicat.

We use tigerina cat litter from zooplus. Excellent at clumping and only do a full change once a month. We remove wee and poo as soon as it has clumped (takes about 20 mins or so to properly do) and no smells at all. I am paranoid about having a nice smelling house and I drive my bestie mad by asking her every time she comes over if she can smell anything and she would be brutally honest.

1,. Cat san, with any dirty litter scooped out immediately. We use a liner and it's changed every day.

  1. A cat won't (IME) comply with a dedicated area outside. it'll probably just watch you make it, then do a massive dump just next to it. While making eye contact with you.

Cat’s Best by Okoplus (it’s flushable and can be purchased from Zooplus). I usually put deodoriser at the bottom of the tray, then a plastic liner and then I fill the liner with litter. I scoop it daily.

World best cat litter, it's corn based so no dust either!

TheBalletCats · 28/08/2023 12:04

NO LITTER IS FLUSHABLE IN THE UK: our waste systems cannot deal with it, so please don’t flush it.

That PSA over, litter of choice here is Amazon’s own-brand corn-based clumping litter.
