Kitten limping and high fever

My male kitten went to vets on Wednesday to be neutered. Yesterday evening he started limping, this morning his limp is much worse and he isn't moving much. I've taken him to the vets this morning and he has a temperature (39.3) the vet said he thinks he could have picked up a bug whilst being their on Wednesday. But that still doesn't explain the limping? He's had an antibiotic injection and pain meds and I've been told to bring him back tomorrow if no improvement. He's now hiding from me under the wardrobe Sad anyone had any experience with similar symptoms? I'm so worried.

Vet here- did he have any vaccinations at the same time? The cat flu vaccine can cause a transient limping syndrome and fever occasionally. I've only seen it about 3 times in 14 years but it is a known "thing".

Thanks for your reply! He had his 2nd lot of vaccine on 8th Aug. I've just been googling and came across limping calici, have you ever come across that before? The symptoms sound similar and now I'm wondering whether I should call the vets back again!
