Best non prescription flea treatment.

Just went to the vets to pick up some flea treatment for my cat. I bought a large pack last time. They haven't seen her since then, so have said I need to take her in for a consultation with the vet at £60 before they will prescribe.

I just can't afford it atm, on top of the flea treatment. Very disappointing, they used to do a free cat health check (look at weight, listen to heart, look at teeth etc) which covered this.

What is the best non prescription?

There aren’t any good non prescription flea treatments. Can you change vet and join one with a a pet health club subscription? It costs me £9 a month for my cat but that’s monthly flea and worming and annual vaccinations covered as well as some other stuff I can’t remember

I've used Advantage for 11 years and our cat has never had fleas.

+1 for Advantage, it's cheaper than Frontline from Pets at Home and it doesn't seem to sting like Frontline. It's mildly uncomfortable but our cat doesn't yowl in pain. Haven't had any fleas since we switched four years ago.

Fab thank you, I'll try advantage.
