Litter turning like clay

I use the ultra clumping sainsburys litter (purple paper bag) and have recently noticed certain areas are turning into a clay like substance rather than clumping together

This has happened over the last few weeks despite being scooped and changed within a day.

There are still some normal clumps but this clay bit different, hence the post.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

I use intersand and it does it if it sticks to the bottom
Of the tray. Try having it deeper..

I suspect you're not scooping it out quickly enough.

I've used litter like that before and if you don't get to it within an hour or two, it goes really clay-like is a pain in the arse to clean out. It also sticks to the bottom of the tray and ruins it.

I've used this litter for years and it's never done this before even leaving it a day or two.

Hmmm maybe that's the issue?!
