Cat sunbathing weather

I just wanted to post and say that my finger boy is overjoyed by the 22-24 degrees weather we've had this week.

He's a grumpy boy (like his mum) and isn't a fan of cold or hot, but the weather this week has been perfect for him and he's been on the shed or patio with his eyes closed doing the proper catty bliss face all week. It makes me so happy.

That's all!

We're in Scotland so it hasn't been so warm. But it has been sunny enough for Bella the cat to sleep in the potting shed where she is behind glass in the sun! The dog is most displeased that he can't get in there with her, he also is a sun worshipper!!

They love the sun beams don't they. It warms my heart.

The look on a cats face when they're lying in the sun is the best thing ever.

I've noticed mine adores lying out when it's the low 20's. Higher than that he hides indoors. But when it gets wet or cold he gets bored and begs for food so much more it drives me crackers.

Mine is actually a bit of an idiot (ginger male cat so that makes sense) and he'll sunbathe at 38 degrees, until I bring him indoors in front of a fan. But I think this is his ideal state. Sunny and warm.

My cat actively avoids the sun. He ‘shade bathes’ on our patio of an evening, if that’s even a thing? Probably because he started his outdoor adventures in January at 0c and doesn’t understand the concept of warm 😆

Photo? 🐈

I'll try to get one! He's one of those twats that seems to always know when a camera is anywhere near and legs it. I'll try and be stealth.

we have black patio furniture and black cats .
Basic Physics tells you black absorbs heat , so you can guess where ours like to lounge ,,< sigh>

Sounds like classic cat behaviour 😂

"I want him to have another living summer
to lie in the sun and enjoy the douceur de vivre -
because the sun, like golden rum in a rummer,
is what makes an idle cat un tout petit peu ivre -

"I want him to lie stretched out, contented,
revelling in the heat, his fur all dry and warm,
an Old Age Pensioner, retired, resented
by no one, and happinesses in a beelike swarm

"to settle on him, postponed for another season
that last fated hateful journey to the vet
from which there is no return (and age the reason),
which must soon come - as I cannot forget."

(This poem was one of those put up in the London Underground the year I started work I was so pleased to track it down in later years - it says EVERYTHING about an old, contented, sun-bathing cat.)
