Vomiting episodes

Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar situation and might have some advice / reassurance. I have two cats, 9 month old brothers. One has always had quite a sensitive tummy - lots of episodes of diarrhea from when we got him as a kitten. About the only food he seems to tolerate and have normal poo on is royal canin digestive dried food - it’s expensive, not great quality I know, but he has been doing ok on it. Tried pretty much everything else - Katkin, scrumbles, blink, pets at home sachets, lilys kitchen, Edgard & Cooper, aminonda, etc etc - all seem to cause problems. So now he’s just on the dry royal canin and he’s been fine for quite a while. I’m the last week though he’s had two episodes where he is really sick - like violently sick, several times in the space of a few hours. Then sleeps and wakes up seemingly ok. Vet isn’t much help, says probably furballs but it doesn’t seem like that - it’s like he’s sick until his stomach is completely empty. I don’t think it’s diet, literally all he has is the same dried food and he’s fine on it in between episodes. He’s an indoor cat so he’s not topping up with rotting mouse carcasses or the contents of people’s bins! Anyone been through similar?
