Kitten and litter tray

Kitten 16 weeks, completely litter trained... but as soon as she arrived she decided he old litter tray wasn't the one for her... oh no, she prefers the older cats tray and won't go in the one she came home with.

Older cat seems ok for now with this, she's certainly still going in the tray.

Anyone else had this?

Our cats all share litter trays - never been an issue! I think it's fairly normal.

Dkitten you say???

They always say you need 1 more litter tray than you have cats but ours have always shared. We have 3 cats and they all use 1 for wees, 1 for poos and ignore all the others.

Reassuring to hear it might be normal, I just didn't expect the kitten to be so cheeky!

The ideal is one litter tray per cat plus one extra - but all the cats I've ever owned have been happy to share.

One of ours is particularly fussy and won't use a tray that's been used and not cleaned out before he can get to it, but he's happy to share with the others still.

Pay the kitten tax OP

My DCats have never read that particular memo. I got two kittens, litter mates and two litter trays. They resolutely shared the same one!

Day 3 and they still seem to both be taking shifts in the one tray, both have to have it perfectly clean... which means I feel like I'm constantly emptying it atm, but better than it being outside the box I suppose!

Ours actually use the same tray at the same time sometimes Grin
