My car has an abscess

It's on the front of his neck, got him booked in the vets for later, what can we expect? It's like a scratch with a lump coming out of it, does that sound like an abscess?

WRT tablets you can get hairball paste from Amazon and crush them into it , apparently it’s very tasty .

We had made our peace that if our boy ever needed medication he'd just die as there was no way of getting it in him.

When he did have an abscess he had the long acting injection and everyone was very relieved.

However it turns out he'll eat anything if it is wrapped in a Webbox cat stick the Lidl one's are actually better so we can stop worrying.

As soon as the vet shaved his hair she said "does he go out fighting" like he's some alley cat 😆 I said I don't think he goes out looking for them but there's a lot of turf wars going on with the cats where we live !! Definitely a cat bite as vet could see the fang marks, and she said it had already burst but was quite a big one.

He is a really good boy, he just freezes in the vets and you could do anything to him, he just just be petrified in there bless him.

We have metacam? And some liquid antibiotics for a week so hopefully it'll shift any infection!

Glad all ok. Our little kittie has the same now. On her back. I got a bit of the puss out and now just liquid so not a bad one.

She goin in the morning. Only 11 months and she out fighting already!

Our cat has had a few abscesses, at least 5, so i'm used to dealing with them. As soon as they burst it seems to be a big relief for him. He quickly recovers. Vet has given him a long lasting antibiotic injection, and Metacam pain relief. If you do have to give tablets you can buy pill putty from the vet.. Wrap the putty around the pill.. Hope he's ok soon.

I was offered antibiotic tablets or the injection and chose the injection! I was given liquid pain relief and gave that mixed with lik-e-lix.

He was fine having the antibiotic, dh held his mouth open as best he could and I just shot the liquid down his throat ! Definitely a two man job though.

Why are cats prone to abscesses ?

You can mix it into food. There’s no need for any of this.

I did ask the vet if I could mix it into food and she said it will be better to squirt it straight into his mouth. He was fine with it to be honest , still my friend afterwards so don't think he's been traumatised !
