Bloody hell! My 17 year old cat is only £17 a month, and I regularly claim for ongoing condition.

£34 a month for a 10yo cat seems pretty reasonable to me.

Toddlerteaplease · 15/08/2023 13:14

Since Magic died, Cheddar is costing £33 . She's 12, and had no claims.

I pay £150 a month for 4 - it goes up every year. I do have the top level of cover though and I have had £20k of surgery for the youngest 2 who are only 4 years old so I'm not complaining about the costs. It's worth it when they get ill!

derekthe1adyhamster · 15/08/2023 16:29

Ours has gone up to £30/month and I'm not even sure what it covers now. He's 13 so if my memory serves me correctly I think I have to pay a percentage of every claim. I'm begging to wonder if it's worth it

Ours for Sodding (not his real name) went up from £45pm to £70pm in June this year. He’s a pedigree, it’s a higher benefits policy and we’ve had to claim every year so far. We were agog but I’ve since read that venture capitalists have started buying up UK independent vet surgeries, forming huge chains. The lack of competition and workforce issues post Brexit (shortage of EU vets) coupled with rising drug/equipment prices has pushed claims up and premiums have followed. Sodding just racked up a huge claim by being v v poorly in hospital for several days so, on balance, we’re OK with this year’s hike. We’ve had more than our premiums back. Nervous about next year’s hike though.
