Cat attacking partner

So recently our ginger boy (5) has started growling, crying, fur standing up, at my boyfriend whenever he wears a pair of loose fitted tracksuit bottoms

He only wears them at home and it never used to be an issue it just seems in the last few weeks.

When the cat is like this he will stand in front of my partner almost blocking him from exiting the room etc and if he does try, he will attack him.

Not sure where this has come from to be honest. He is generally fine every with everything else. I think it's important to note that he was an indoor cat and he was neutered but we had to let him outside as he would attack me (only me)

My worry is that I have two small children (3 and 4m) and I'm concerned that he could go for them at some point if something pisses him off.

Is there anything that could help this situation (other than my boyfriend not wearing trousers because that's completely unreasonable) or any idea as to why he could be doing it. It's making me feel very stressed and I do feel like I may have to get rid of him if he keeps it up 😢

Sounds like the cat has good taste.

Are the joggers new? Cats don’t like hoods either ime, or bags.

Do the tracksuit pants rustle? My cats are terrified of things that rustle, like rain coats.

@FormerlyPathologicallyHappy nope! It's not one pair either, it's any of them. But if I wore them or similar he's not fussed on it. Just find it really odd

@WanderingWitches I thought this too but no all the ones he's offended by are cotton. Oddly enough the one pair DP does have that would make a noise he's not bothered by!

Pets usually give kids a free pass unless they really push their luck.

The cats just got opinions on sportswear 🤷🏻‍♀️
