Having to say goodbye

One of our cats has been poorly for over a year, but after speaking to the vet we have decided no further treatment and have made a appointment to have him pts at the weekend.
I know it's for the best his quality of life has fallen, but today he's having a good day and he's ok. Realistically I know he's having more bad days then good and it is the kindest option but my heart hurts so much.

I'm so sorry your cat has been poorly. It sounds like the right choice at this time...

It is part of what we have to do when we love our animals - better to do it before they really start to suffer in pain. You are sparing him that and letting him go as you want to remember him x

We had to make this decision three weeks ago 😭 She had been poorly for 6 months but the bad days were definitely outweighing the good and it felt like we were prolonging things for selfish reasons.
Literally the hardest decision I've had to make but that morning she looked at me in a way that I knew meant it was time.
Think of it as a kindness, no more suffering.

I had my beautiful boy pts yesterday, he was 18 and had awful kidney and arthritis issues. His quality of life just fell away. He died very gently in my arms. It's the hardest decision to make, but better a day too soon than a minute too late. You have my sympathy.

Thanks everyone he had such a good day yesterday it's making me question myself, but I know one good day doesn't outweigh many bad days.
I'm just wanting time to slow down so the weekend doesn't get here as quickly

We said goodbye today, it was peaceful but we are absolutely heartbroken

@Mycatiscrazy I am so sorry for your loss 😞. I always say the same thing It's the worst part of having cats but, the last kind thing you get to do for them. I know you know it is the right thing but, that doesn't help right now.
Your beautiful cat is now doing the thing they love the best, having a peaceful, restful sleep out of any pain.
